My Dad

Another 24th

Days go past us winds of season,
Never gone past the days and years
Get stuck in some ear and age
That engulf us like mirages in deserts.

One such mirage is my Dad' in my life,
Always in front of me,waiting for me,
Yet i never reach there in time be near,
So near to me yet so far away.

Never did he forsake me,in life
Never for moment, never for a day,
Always beside me when i needed the most,
A dear friend,a true companion,a great dad.

He suggested, the best books for me to read
But never pushed them into my hands,
A mear suggestion about the inputs
Next thing i know,i have my hands full.

He sang tune's that's soothing,melodious,
But never forced me to listen any songs,
A mear suggestion about the notes in them,
Passion for music began with his notes.

His acquaintances,colleagues becomes friends,
Value of friends in life is enormous,
Friends are like cool breeze in mornings,
Surround life with them, now i have endless no's.

Life has ups and downs, but never fear them,
Face them and find solutions for them,
This life is too small for us to sit and fear,
So i tried, yet fear engulfed me.

He came back into my life in many forms,
Beating death, faced me with many a face,
As friends, note of music, verses from books
He never left me and my life, my Dad.

Frantic 'Plea' of a Blogger

My dreams shattered into droplets of dews waiting to be frozen.........................................

This is a draft that i made to give in the 'Readers Column' in Times of Oman, but somehow my hopes went astray, neither did they respond nor did they publish what i wrote, used my name and in place of my wordings inserted the most secure 'irrelevant' words.................

Here is a desperate mail from a desperate reader. Until I narrate the pathetic saga of the last two weeks, may be you might not get the ' real picture.' So, here we go... With morning coffee in hand, I am in front of my laptop, clicking 'G-talk.' The only response is 'network error.' I try other networks of Gmail. All in a shambles! Could be some 'major' work of Oman Tel, which happens quite often, I have noticed since I relocated to Oman a year ago.

After a few hours of frantic calls to friends, reformatting Internet options and restarting my laptop, I decide to make an SOS to to Oman-Tel. I dial 1313. It rings! A sweet lady directs me to press '2' for English and '3' for other services, before politely asking me to wait. The call goes to the attendant and… 'BANG!' Do they really bang phones down? Can't be—may be it's my phone. I try again. 1313 …2…3… wait… BANG! Again!

I connect through Oman-Tel to other mail-servers of Hotmail, Yahoo, except to those pages that has any link to Google. I am sure many people, offices, called and tried to get in touch with Oman-Tel, which, well, just banged. It's obviously not a Google problem, because it opens on and off. I don't think Oman-Tel is blocking it. There may be a technical error. But how does one know if they keep banging the phone?

I thought of – and found – the next best option after a week: Newspaper Reader's Column. Not that every one reads it, but some of the Google fans just might. Once they do, this would be talked about and Google will surely look into it.

Through Google, we access "Blogs" which I find are very interactive platforms for people who have convictions and a longing to have them heard and discussed around the world. I have been writing blogs for many years. Now it looks like my years of toil have been to no avail. Alas! I cannot log into Gmail. For people like me, 'Blogging' is a place to speak up, pour out, or just think aloud... If anyone is seeing or listening or reading this, please do respond. Others keep trying 1313.

Does it ring a bell?
